N.D.C ELECTS EXECUTIVES

The Mfantseman West Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (N.D.C) has organized an election to replace executive of the party whose term of office has elapsed.

Nasir Adams, polled 64 out of 124 votes cast to become the constituency youth organizer for the party, Fredrick Samara, polled 56 out of 124 votes to become the Deputy youth organizer.

For the Women Organizer position, Alice Wonkye was elected unopposed together with her Deputy Mrs. Efua Allan.

Alex Beechem polled 184 out of 273 votes cast to become Secretary for the party with his Deputy James Essoun going unopposed.

Former Constituency Chairman for the party, Mr. Stephen Edward Moore was elected again unopposed as Chairman for the party together with the Vice, Mohammed Husseinu also going unopposed.

Felix R. Quansah was elected organizer for the party together with the vice, Robert Kobina Johnson going unopposed.

Oscar k. Appiah polled 160 out of 172 votes cast to become treasure with his Deputy Mary Annan elected unopposed ,Ramos Zoryiku was also elected Propaganda secretary together with the Deputy, Fred Budu Haggan all going unopposed.

The Member of Parliament, (MP) for Mfantseman West, Hon. Aquinas Tawiah Quansah charged the elected executives to be selfless, dedicated and work as a team to help maintain the party in power come 2012.

He again asked those who lost their positions not to shy away from the winners but should collaborate with them to make their tenure successful.

In another development, the MP donated 50 bags of cement to the Nkroful Community in the Mfantseman Municipality for their Library project.

He is also constructing an ante-natal shed at the Saltpond government hospital at the Cost of GH 42,000 cedis

INTERGRATED MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH COMPAIGN - RUBY NYAMEKYE OFOSUA

The Mfantseman Municipal Health directorate has recruited 336- volunteers to provide Health care to some people in all areas in the Municipality under National Integrated Maternal and Child Health campaign.

The purpose of the campaign is to prevent Children under 5- from dying from preventable diseases and to also prevent maternal death in the country.

The Mfantseman Municipal Health Director, Dr. Kwabena Sarpong revealed, the volunteers will administer Polio Vaccines to children from birth to 5, de-worm children from 2-5 years, and also supplementation of Vitamin A to children 6 months -5 years and to breastfeeding Mothers within 8 weeks of delivery.

He added, the volunteers will as well register children under 1-year under the birth registry and provide them with certificates.

He said the team will undergo a counting exercise for Dogs and Cats in the Municipality in collaboration with the Vertinary Service in order to vaccinate them against Rabies.

Dr. Sarpong said, the team will finally identify severely malnourished children in the Municipality to assist in giving them Therapeutic foods to help them recover to prevent them from dying.
