NKUSUKUM GETS OMANHENE

The atmosphere in Saltpond was very intense and filled with joy as the new King of Nkusukum Traditional Area was paraded on the main street of Akyemfo. Dressed in black cloth with leaves stuck in between his lips, he danced in his palanquin to the admiration of all. Women, men and children poured out of their rooms to welcome and rain appellations on their new King. The old order indeed, has changed giving place to new. The sorrow on the faces and the grief in the hearts of the people of Nkusukum was replaced with joy that day. Nana Okesse Essandoh VIII was gone but still lives.


The King on Saturday 5th September, 2009 was presented to the people of Nkusukum Traditional Area and sworn before the Nyimfahene of Nkusukum Traditional Area and Chief of Nankesido, Nana Baah VII. Nana Okesse Essandoh IX was installed as King following the sudden demise of Nana Okesse Essandoh VIII about a month ago. A lot of rituals were performed to acknowledge that he had been duly accepted as the legitimate King of Nkusukum Traditional Area.

All the Chiefs in the Nkusukum Traditional Area were present at the occasion. They were all dressed in black clothes to symbolize that they were mourning their deceased King.

ABOUT US

The Mfantsiman Community Information Center is an IT center which the Government of Ghana in collaboration with donor agencies like UNDP and the Ministries of Communication and Information has set up in Saltpond to promote and train people in ICT in the Mfantisman Municipality.The center which is about two years old has in the past trained over twenty four(24) students and currently has student population of about nineteen(19) with nine (9)females and ten (10)males who run the 8 am to 4pm session and one student for the evening session respectively.

PERSONNEL : The center currently has two staff members comprising of the manager and an assistant which makes work much easier, making way for the manager to attend various programs and other equally important functions which in one way or the other contribute to the development of the center. However the center has a cleaner who sees to cleaning tidying up the center.

We offer the following services;
1. Desktop Publishing

· We design letter heads and business cards, brochures, fliers for organizations and individuals
· Individuals and organizations can also type and print at affordable prices at the centre.
2. Repair and maintenance of Computers

3. Companies, Organizations, Businesses and Individuals can use our library for conferences, seminars and etc.
4. Sale of pen drives and other computer accessories
5. CD writing


We also run the following computer courses

a. Touch Typing Training
We teach you how to type with most current edition of typing tutor software.
Secretarial students can take advantage of this opportunity to learn to type with the computer as well as the general public.
The duration is 11/2 hrs a day for 4 weeks and the price is GH¢15.00

b. Computer Fundamentals

This course takes the student through the history of computer right down to the basic application software available and their uses. The duration is 2hrs a day for 2 weeks and the price is ¢10.00


Microsoft Potential Tools

This training offers the student the opportunity to know and effectively apply all the Microsoft application tools.
The duration is 2hrs a day for 4 months at a cost of GH¢46.00

Internet Orientation
Teaches the student the inns and out of effectively using the internet towards an effective research work and also how to send and receive emails.
The Duration is 2hrs a day for 1 week at GH¢10.00

Digital Media Fundamentals
Teaches you to make very nice looking images which can be used to make calendars, albums, fliers, cards, etc
Duration is 2 hrs a day for 4 weeks at GH¢12.00

MS Publisher
An all in one application software which can be used to create a whole lot of professional looking documents and also can be used to create company’s letter head, cards, brochures, websites et.
The duration is 2 hrs a day for 4 weeks at GH¢12.00.

At the end of the training the student will be given a certificate which he or she can use to get a job from any organization.
We also have a library where students can come and study on their own without any disturbance. The general public can also pass by for the most current information from our library.

REAL IT SOLUTIONS

The centre currently provides basic and junior high school pupils the opprtunity to utilise the Real IT Software at small fee. The easy science software is an interactive teaching and learning software and it is based on the Ghana Education Service (GES) Syllabus. It presents lessons in pleasurable environment and uses animated objects as the key tool to demonstrate scientific processes which enables the pupil to appreciate the subject and enhances his/her understanding of the concepts of science. Pupils from all the schools in the municipality are given the opportunity to enrol at the centre and utilise the software to their benefit.

PRESIDENTS' SPECIAL INITIATIVE ON DISTANCE LEARNING

The centre has interactive cds on the core subjects namely Integrated Science, Mathematics, English Language and other subjects. Pupils in the Junior High Schools and Senior High Schools in the municipality have the opportunity to come to our centre to learn at their own pace.
